Hello! I recently bought a bonsai starter kit and my seedlings (The Gang) are growing wonderfully. The three species I have are:

Pinus Artisata
Jacaranda Mimosifolia
Picea Abies

They are each planted in a small peat pot using a dense peat-like soil that came in dehydrated disks with the starter kit. Most of what I’ve read says you shouldn’t repot until the seedlings are one year old.

However, I’m worried that the poor soil quality will either stunt their growth or kill the seedlings as they grow. Is there any harm in repotting with the right soil mixture and a more suitable pot before the year mark? And, if I should repot, what’s the safest way to do it? If I shouldn’t repot, what’s the best way to make sure they’re getting enough nutrients?

Any advice is appreciated!

The soil itself is hardly ever the problem, but the care given is.
Note: Do move the jacarana inside if you get cold winters. They do not do well when temperatures are below 10C for a longer period of time.

I am so sure you know it is indoors - with the others.

Yes, they are all inside, watered when the top bit of soil gets dried, rotated daily, and moved to get approximately 6 hours of sunlight a day. Just want to check that I won’t accidentally kill them if I repot early.

So move them outside. Only the tropical one has a reason to be inside. The others will die there. Search the forum. Search is there for a reason.
