It looks like, I may lose my crabapple tree this year, because I should have repoted, but didn't. I.e. the roots were pretty compacted and some issues occured. I put it in a larger pot, hoping it might recover, but it looks bad.
Anyway, my real question: when do you determine which of your trees to repot and how? Do you asses if a tree needs to be repotted when it goes into dormancy? or shortly before the repot window? or when? and how? For me it seems that removing it from the pot at some point during dormancy and looking would be the easiest way, but I was wondering what you do. Also, from what I've seen now, I might consider repotting, if there is only marginal space left in the pot... even though it might (and I really mean only possibly) make it through one year without it.
