Hi all
I have recently purchased a bonsai ( Zanthoxylum ) and it is loose within the pot and a few leaves are falling off ( not much like 2 or 3 ) I was just wondering how do I make the tree more solid and what i should be doing to keep it more healthy.

thank yous

Please post a picture and give us some information about where you have the tree and how you care for it.

In terms on upkeep I water it when the soil feels dry, just keeping the soil somewhat damp

You won't find many people on this forum with this species - I think none of the regulars have one. I have no experience with it myself, so I can only give general advice. Look up specific care guidelines, should be under 'tree species', top of the page.

You only recently acquired it, so the plant needs to adjust to its new environment. Don't do too much with it at this time, give it time to settle. Do keep an eye on it.

Seems some of the soil was flushed out, you could add a bit on top. But don't move he tree in the pot. Give it time.

By looking at the picture I guess there is too little soil around the root mass and I guess the tree is not wired to the pot.
Adding more soil specially a heavy aerated bonsai mix would help.
