Today I decided that it was time to slip pot my juniper. There were roots coming out of the bottom, so I knew it had to be done.
Re-potting during summer is a big no-no. Slip potting is different. This means literally slipping the whole tree in to a bigger pot WITHOUT disturbing the roots.
That is what I did.
Since the tree is eventually going to be a cascade I decided to angle the tree that way in the pot, if the roots that would be on top could be covered with soil. They could :) . It took me about 45 minutes from start to finish.

Wow!:whoohoo:

I am gonna follow your thread pinkham. I have only recently come to like junipers and the one of mine (with the purple grow tips)is one I got as a gift.

Is that the way its gonna go into the bonsai pot? If so you can do a cascade with semi exposed roots.

Sorry,... Just my thought.

Me too Hein. Before I got this, I really didn't like juni's. This is the way it's going in the pot. Some of the top roots will eventually be exposed, but now isn't the right time to be doing root work so I slipped the whole root ball undisturbed in to a bigger pot.. Next spring it will get a proper re-potting and root pruning.
I'm glad my posts are helping someone.

Well done, Lance! :) It looks super! Will you just be leaving this alone now until Spring? ie: no trimming or pruning?
Oh...and, just for the record, your posts are always helpful.
