Hi all,

I bought a San Jose Juniper last summer and pruned about 1/3 of the foliage. This spring I'd like to start getting it into a bonsai pot. How much root can i prune at once to fit it into a pot? Let's assume the roots reach to the bottom of the grow pot. Do I have to put it into a slightly smaller ceramic pot or can I fit it into a large bonsai pot?

Thanks in advance!

What style is that? Contra-cascade?

You can cut up to 1/3. You don't need a bonsai pot. Take your time and put it in a bonsai pot when it's ready for it.
