Beginner question here and I couldn't find the topic on previous pages.
I read that a soil mix of John Innes No.2 and perlite is a great mix for bonsai.
Along with some trace elements, I wondered what ratio the perlite should be added at, and if perlite on its own is ok with the compost.
I have a couple new trees that are in need of repotting and am sourcing the best materials for the job.
Any advice welcome, Thanks

The best soil is dependent on tree species, your care and climate. What is the best for one is the worst for someone Else.
The best as a beginner is to copy what experienced People around you are doing.

Unfortunately I took up the hobby from online viewing of bonsai.
There isn't a lot going on locally, I live in Cumbria, Northern England.
My closest nursery is some 3 hours drive away, but I guess ill email them and see what they say.
thanks for the advice.
