Hi all

I had this tree since 2014, It lost several branches, I think due to poor compost (And not being repotted for far too long!), I repotted it in march of this year..

This is another tree that I was amazed was still alive due to very small amount of roots!

I repotted it to equal parts of Japanese black lava grit, composted bark and Akadama, Hopefully it wiill be more opemn than the potting compost that it was in!

I ran the lava grit through a sieve as there were large lumps, I put those in first for a drainage course.

Once the componet parts were mixed and ready I removed the compost from the tree and washed all traces of the old stuff away with the hosepipe.

It finally has it's feet in some fresh stuff!

It seems ok at the moment, I gave it a feed of seaweed extract last week so hopefully it will flourish, I don't know what these trees are like for back budding, It'll probably never have any branches further down :(

Cheers, John :)

Hey John,

Nice little tree. Just note: Washing out the roots is for many coniferous species not a great idea. Hope it will not take too big a hit!
