New Giant Sequoia Coming!

I have a Mid sized giant sequoia coming and I cant find the advice I need anywhere! I see everywhere that when re potting its best done early or late winter. Is it possible to pot the tree late summer without killing it? i have never actually done with before so looking for any and all advise on what I can do. Ive already killed 2 plants. Pleaseeee help me save the bigger one lol

As you have not got it yet why are you thinking of repotting? No you must not repot in summer!! Repotting is only done when needed so only if the soil is not draining. This species needs a lot of water.

Im not re potting right now. Its nursery stock and is on the way. As it its not, its not potted and just has the roots packed toghether in a small bundle. It has never been in a pot or in the ground. I don't think it can just stay how it is and survive long term so im trying to figure out what i can do with it. The picture is from the website showing size and how its stored up until this point.

In bonsai repotting is the term used for taking the tree out of the pot, doing rootwork and change soil. That is best done when the tree is dormant.
Just putting the plug into a bigger pot without root disturbance is not considered repotting and can be done any time.

I would recommend to stop purchasing these plugs in summer. Wait for fall or winter to buy plants in this way.
