Repotting root bound Bonsai was created by Jerryz

Hi everybody, I have attached a pic of one of my favorite Bonsai's. I am still new to Bonsai. Anyway, when I touch the soil to check for moistness, it seems very hard. I am worried that it might be root bound and needs a bigger pot. How do I know when it's time to get a bigger pot? By the way, does anyone recognize my tree. I don't know the name of it.

I think you are right. THe pot does look too large. But not so large that it is a problem.

Thank you a bunch for responding. Are you saying the pot is too big. It seems like my tree is overflowing. Thanks Again.
