I have a juniper bonsai that blew over and broke its pot so I had to do a quick, not-totally-considered quick re-pot. Tried to use a pot somewhat similar to the previous one, but it certainly isn't ideal. I think the tree needs to turn slightly in the pot, and I need a different color - I know unglazed is typical for conifers, but I might go for a glazed red-brown.I'm looking for input on pot size and shape mostly (and along with that, re-shaping tree form some might also ensue).Part of the issue is that the trunk has nice girth, but it's the mound leading to the trunk that is really wide. If I choose a pot thickness equal to the trunk (2") which is the standard suggestion, isn't it going to be too thin? The current pot is supposedly 3.5 in. Also, there is a semi-cascading element to the tree, though mostly it is an s-curve form. Should I use a deep pot and re-shape as a semi-cascading form?I assume that since I re-potted just today, I'm ok to re-pot again as long as it's done soon.
