I just got my Fukien in the mail via UPS yesterday. It looks Ok but looks like it needs more soil or repotting. Not sure.
I live in Frankfort, KY-Zone 6. I put it ink the window for morning sunlight as it is a bit chilly out first thing in morning here.
My grow light comes in the mail tomorrow so that will help as well. I am enclosing the pics on what I am seeing on it.

That looks like more than enough substrate for the tree. It also looks like very good quality open substrate. On top of that it looks like brand new soul, like it was repotted very recently. There are absolutelly no reason to rush away and make emergency repotting. You can be asured that any issue that may occure with the tree has nothing to do with the soil. Let the tree adapt to your conditions and wait to repot until it has been growing good for a while before repotting and do it in the right time of the year. Meanwhile spend your time finding the perfect pot for it. And off cource learn about the tree and get the care right, which will be quite a challenge.

Ficus is one of the best options for indoors under grow light. Jade plant is proboably even better.

I just got myself my first fukien tree. Will keep it cool but frost free without extra light in winter. I have the hunch that it may be the key in my location and I found a really cheap one to try this theory on.

Please post updates on your trees development, good and bad.

That Tigerbark Microcarpa (Not the grafted gingseng) is very promissing...
It's one of my favourite species...
