When the pot breaks you'll have to get a new pot.

Obviously it needs a new pot but if time is other then time you mentioned then what?
I transfer the bonsai without pruning and add more soil because new pot is bigger then the old one but result is same.

Not a native english speaker, but as far as I know, pots never brake. My car does.

If you are using plastic pots in a hot environment i.e. 40C to 50C after few months pots are automatically crack/break.

The pot cracks not from the heat but from the ultraviolet light,it's breaking down the phthalates in plastic.Maybe that's the problem the roots get to hot, after repotting i put me plants in the shade. When I see it's recovered  (new growth) slowly bring it back in the full sun.The roots and branches must be in balance, roots can't supply all branches of water if you prune the roots and leave all the branches on the tree. You might already know this because it's bonsai basic care.

Cheers

Ya learn something new everyday i guess-cool post orlando ;) maybe, after reading that, you could get some greenhouse shading cloth. They sell it buy the meter and maybe you coulduse it as a cover for the tree, it is very clever yet simple, it turns direct sunligh into indirect sunlight, so maybe that might reduce the ultaviolet to the extent that the pot will not crack-as if it were in the northern hemispere in spain or france, then the pot may not brake? Just a theory.

Auk: :D it is very true, bonsai pots dont brake, yet me mums car- gee, we might as well live at the mechanics :D .

Hi Ishkan,

Bob is as much a newcomer as you, and certainly not an expert. Just ignore what you do not like.

As for your pot problem.. So I understand: You have a plant in a pot which is cracked. Naturally, you can thake the plant out of the container, and repot in a new pot. Just try to not damage the roots too much. Keep the plant out of the direct sun for a week or so, to allow it to settle.

When people talk about repotting for bonsai, they normally mean: Take out of the pot, reduce the roots, en rpot in the same pot. What you need to do people normally refer to as slip-potting.
