So, I just received a 14 piece tool kit as a birthday present. I'm excited to be using the proper tools, but ran into one question.

As I was opening and unwrapping/unpackaging everything, I noticed that each tool is well coated in oil.

Has anyone found that machine oil is detrimental to their bonsai? I imagine that machine oil isn't something that most plants have learned to deal with.

Oh, and I know I can just wipe the oil away until the tool's surface is dry; I was just curious if anyone had any experience or opinions about this at all, wether it be with oilly tools or if they've noticed how a tree behaved after having oil dumped near/on it or on an exposed surface.

I have never bought any tools with oil on, so I can't really comment, but as long as you clean the tools then I don't see a problem. I would not worry about it.
