Is this a question about bonsai, or about keeping house plants (the lemon cypresses sold at garden centers are not bonsai)?

It's a serious question. Lemon cypress is the only conifer that can be kept indoors. Outdoors they sometimes are used for topiary. They are not often used for bonsai. The young plants that sometimes are offered as Indoor bonsai really do not have much to do with the art.

So I am just trying to find out what your expectations are.

I also have a Lemon Cypress. It is a tree and not a Bonsai; but I care for it like my bonsais. I have a few other trees that are not Bonsai and love them as if they were. It's OK. We love trees!!!

Welcome to the site MAH.
For next time, please try to not dig up threads that have been dormant for months (unless it is a tree-progression that is being updated).
