Every watering system need human surveillance (or a science fiction scenario)

I carefully set up the watering system, tested it, and left two weeks for vacation. I came home, got out of the car, and the neighbors said that I had accidentally left the hose running and they had turned it off for me.

Now I have a neighbor's son who is about to graduate college and leave. I don't know what I will do.

Sorry, I don’t get the connection with the quote. You want to say I’m wrong or I’m right?

*Edit: Guys, to be honest I don’t give a f.... I built up some automated systems myself and also used commercial ones. It’s always had “something”. With the electronics the power outages or spikes, with mechanics a fall out tube, water level problems, etc... It’s perfect for few days or few weeks, but commercial systems won’t run for 6 months without human help.

I was agreeing completely. I set up the system, had no monitoring, and all the trees died.

Now I have a human and not a machine, and the trees always survive.

I could have anticipated my friendly neighbors but didn't.

Even the human factor can give errors as your neighbors did for you :/ Sorry for your trees.

My family managed to kill around ten of my trees during my 1 month absence. I understand the OP wont trust on his friends will watering correctly his collection, but maybe he can trust on them controlling or filling up the system once a week.

Yup, this is what I do. Have technology help, and humans supervise. (But DO tell them where spare parts are in case of need!
