Im living in the uk currently. iv had it for a week now but have put it outside for only two days and will stay outside permanently .i have a Chinese elm and was wandering how often i should be watering it. i was watering it 1 time a day in the morning.how often should i water it. 1 time a day 1 time a week? i am not sure because i am getting mixed responses from u guys. dose rain affect the amount of watering you need to give to it. Iv also recently got a liquid bonsai feed fertiliser how often should i use that or even if i should be using it.

I assume that as you are putting fertiliser it is in leaf? It is still far too early to be applying fertiliser. Rain in winter affects only in that the plant is not taking up much so it does not need much, so no additional water at all. You must not water to a schedule, check the soil and water when almost dry. Heron's Bonsai by Peter Chan has some excellent videos on Youtube well worth watching. I suggest also that you buy a book and also look for a local club if you are serious about bonsai. You have at least learned that the plant must be outside. Where in UK are you?

Spring once the plant is growing. I would not start using any fertiliser until late March possibly April. It depends on the species the tree and the weather. If it is mild then earlier if it is cold then later.
