TOPIC: When do you water?

When do you water? 4 years 2 months ago #11933

Of course when dry, but if when you go out they are not dry and when you come back they are drooping and under stress should you not have watered before you went out?

If the soil was wet before you went out, what can you do, it is already wet.

Point taken. Today we had about 25mm rain overnight. I left the watering until about 2pm., many of my trees were quite dry. Another couple of hours and they would have been very dry. So I went over and watered most but not all. What's the drowned rat=sory dog's name?

That is a rhetorical question.

I was only asking the name of the dog.
No, this summer has been very warm and dry. Some of my trees are showing signs of stress even with daily watering.
But we have gone away from the original question which was when do you water and why? Not when dry but time of the day.

Oh the tangled webs we weave m5eaygeoff! At least you have finally posted enough to achieve all 6 trees. That's gotta be worth something.

Going back to our off topic, topic.
Ambient temprature is not what's causing your stress related problems. It's the radiation produced by the infared light. Shade cloth will remadie this.
Average temprature here in Vegas is 110F degrees and I have 50% shade cloth. My japanise black pine does just fine with that. It's also not the hot temprature during the day that gets us here, it's the 95F nights and no cool relief that causes problems. I bring sevral trees inside for 2 months and put them under a grow light with a timer untill this passes.

Oh. She's called Daisy. I would give her water before I left and fill up her trough so she won't be drooping when I come back. She will be stressed though, she doesn't like to be left alone.

I can't put shade cloth up, 6 trees? What's that? Some leaves have burnt, but not many. The ones that were stressed were against a wall, they are in a temperoy home for some time as I am having surgery shortly. I have moved them to a less sunny spot, and they are improving.
As for Daisy, stand back when she shakes the water off.

Too bad you can't put it up, it's a game changer. I have a lot of trees and I built a frame and put enough up to cover them all. It cost less than $500 to do it.
Only 6 of your trees were damaged?
