Yeah a watering can that doesn't drip all over the office.

You really don't get it, do you?

I repeat:
Bonsai are NOT found at the office.

Learn about bonsai before you start designing anything for them.

What I'm hearing from here is that most people use just a regular watering can or coffee cup to water there Bonsai.

You have probably spoken with people that water their office ficus. You have NOT spoken with bonsai owners.
Seems you really don't understand the assignment you've been given - or the assignment is just plain wrong.
Did they really tell you to "to interview 3 people who own a Bonsai Tree in an office space ?
In that case tell your teacher that when you asked real bonsai growers, they were very unhappy with the fact that he is propagating the widespread, but incorrect, idea of what bonsai is.

If you were given the instruction to design a pond for Koi, would you ask people about the goldfish bowl at the office?

Hey I'm not stupid, that's why i'm here, to learn about Bonsai but also if l'm going in the right direction. But it sounds like i'm going in the wrong direction. Bonsai's aren't found in office.. My bad!

Well I just learned something new today. Thanks.

I'm not saying you're stupid but you are (were) ignoring what was written.
I can give you some ideas about what would be required for a real bonsai watering can.
However, having kids at school, I have learned often teachers do not expect the correct answer, but an answer they are expecting.

My question to you:
Do you really want to design a real bonsai watering can, or do you want to design a watering can for office-plants, which will be an ordinary can but possibly something the teacher expects. I cannot help you with that - it has got nothing to do with bonsai (and yeah.. the only requirement would be that it doesn't drip on the office floor...)

I know there are watering cans designed for Bonsai trees.

Hm .. I think the take home message was..
- Most people that grow bonsai will have them outside.
- People that have plants in the office will usually not have bonsai, or they are plants that are only in winter in the office
- Using a watering can for bonsai inside will result in a mess in your office

... unless when you're watering a large office ficus in a big pot ;)

I want to design a real bonsai watering can for someone. It sounds like for an office-plant it will be just an ordinary can so I'll change my idea a little.

I have to find problems or issues with current bonsai watering cans.

None really that I can tell.

Might be interesting concept to add an automated fertilizer compartment to existing bonsai watering cans.

That was really helpful thank you.
I wasn't solid on my design idea anyways that's why i'm doing research to find if people have bonsai's in office which you said they don't. Perfect.

So having bonsai's outside, What kind of device do you use to water bonsais?

I can maybe throw in a hint :
There are many ways to water a bonsai some sommerge it in water some hose it down some use watering cans , so it might be hard to come up with an overall better solution to that but something that a bonsai also needs is misting , so maybe you could come up with something more like a sprayer to ,more than water , increase the humidity of the micro climate the bonsai is in and as letherback suggested you could still add some sort of way to hrlp fertilize the tree

Nico

Thanks Nico!
That's exactly the kind of stuff I want to know. I didn't know there were different options for watering a bonsai.
The misting idea is interesting...
