Just an update...

I have put it in the akadama. However just a point I want to make (I could have made a mess of this) I have put it in the soil (which looks like little pebbles) and flattened it down however it still looks like little pebbles have I done this correctly or was there something else I needed to do?

Could you share another photo or two of the trunk sitting in the new Akadama soil and the pebbles please? Then we can better understand what your question refers to. Thanks for the update!

Hi James,

Yes akadama ARE like little pebbles, so it's alright This soil is very water-permeable. Don't break these 'pebbles' into very little pebbles or even dust, because the dust is very bad for the health of the tree.

Have you put a stick in the soil and then moved it up and down to make sure there are no spaces with air anymore in the soil?

You've done the right thing, akadama looks like pebbles instead of other soil that're just the soil we know.

Ahhh cool I wasent too sure if it was supposed to have something else done with it as well but thats good news.

No however I will do that tonight and fill it with more soil so there are no more air gaps As this is my first time I was unsure if it was supposed to be like that or not I will do this tonight and fill it up if required

One thing I am unsure about is as the roots are all in a big rectangle would it need to go inbetween these as well as I dont think it has done as there is soil on the bottom and top of the roots but I dont know if its gone in between them...

this post shows what a big person you are [bows and takes of his hat]! Nobody was worried about your post, yet you offer your apologies.

James: At some point you will need to break the ball of roots, and thin out the roots. Then you can also remove any old soil from in-between and re-organize the root system. This is however a very big hit to the root system. Probably it is better for you to learn the character of your plant, learn how to care for it, and get it nice and strong before getting into that..

I wouldn't remove all the soil between the root ball, maybe a little more but I would let it leave for now, or he don't get the time to recover (two times repotted in a few days). It's good to not remove all the soil, I think you did the right job.

Also about the air gaps: Yes just put a stick or something in and try to cover all space with soil.

PLease don't misread my post: I meant: At some point. For now: Let your plant gain strength, and learn what it likes and what not. THen when you know this, and your plant is healthy and strong, you can consider working on the roots.

Thanks for your comments I have tried to get the soil back and around with the stick and now I am leaving it and using the baby bio with the water when its being watered Hopefully my little tree will be fine however I have noticed that there are some new leaves growing which is good

I will update you further as it develops!
