Need Help Identifying-New Clippings, Please was created by Leslie

Hi Folks,

I got these clippings while at my Bonsai Club meeting last night. The woman who gave them to me could'nt remember the full name of this plant (apparently it's quite a long name) however, she says they root extremely easily. The clippings are from her tree which is about 12 to 14" high and quite delicate looking, has a rough-ish textured bark, and it gets tiny little, greenish flowers that later become berries. The mature leaf is a deep, glossy green measuring about 3/4" wide by 1" long and are delicately toothed around the outside edge of the leaf.

Can anyone identify this plant for me? Here are some photos:

I'm not entirely sure what it is, but if you can remember anything that person said about growth habits, care, ect., this might help:

No, I can't, Hannah. All I got was what I'd already mentioned. I will email her and ask her the full name of it, both botanical and common name. Thanks for the link. ;)

Hello Bonsai Friends,

Guess What??? :cheer: I finally identified my little cuttings! They are the "Sageretia Theezans", commonly know as the *Bird Plum*. :P I found a photo in the main menu of Empire's site under "Care/Suitable Trees" from which I thought this is what they might be however, I wasn't positive. The lady who gave me these cuttings emailed me yesterday and confirmed this is indeed what they are. Wonderful! My little babies now have an identity.

I wonder...now that I know what they are, should I move this to a new "Subject" under cuttings?

Dear Moderators,

The Sageretia (Bird Plum) is listed incorrectly in the main menu under "Care/Suitable Tree Species". You have it listed under "deciduous" when it should be listed under "tropical" as it is a tropical everygreen which needs to be kept indoors in temperatures no less than 55 F or 12 C. Thanks! ;)

That's great, Leslie! Don't you love solving a mysterious identity?

Sorry I can't be of much help right now; I'm responding during free period at school and the wireless internet connection has a filter. Here's a link of what came up, though:
www.fruitipedia.com/bird_plum%20Berchemia%20discolor.htm

I can't click the link because the filter, well... here's a picture of my screen when I try to see.
