Recently gifted this lovely tree... was labelled as a zelkova (Japanese elm) but cant help thinking it looks more like an Ulmus (Chinese elm) could somebody please identify it for me? :)

These plants are practically always Ulmus. They were renamed to Zelkova to avoid import problems.

Note: The tree as pictured is way to dry and about to be killed by drought. I can see the leaves curling up.
