Not easy to tell, but if it is Juniper it is dead looks a bit larch like so would be normal.

I defoliated it about back in June and after that it turned brown and looked the way it did.

Defoliate Juniper?? Thats a technice I have never heard about before. I Think thats what killed it.

Humanity have tried to bring dead organisms back to life for ages, no one have succeded yet.

I think you should take a step back and do / learn some basic horticulture first. The health of your tree comes first , everything bonsai-ish second.
(And no, we still can’t revive dead things, that happens only in movies and stories)

Lesson learned: do not defoliate Junipers.
