Yep I've checked it over and no sign of insects or anything. I imagine it probably not the best quality soil but it drains thoroughly when watered so I just left it behind.
I use a moisture meter and only water when starting to show dry on the gauge or if the soil is feeling particularly dry. 👍
Yeh lots have said it's a tricky species
