Hi everyone,I’m relatively new to bonsai and would like to grow a black pine from seed. I planted this seed almost a year ago, and now I have a seedling (indoors). I know that black pines are outdoor bonsai, but since the last time I put a seedling outside where it first got too much water from the rain and then was eaten by a snail. I’m a bit hesitant to do the same with my current seedlings.Unfortunately, my seedlings don’t look very healthy anymore, so I do think it’s important for them to go outside. In the photo, you can see that they are slowly dying. I repotted them yesterday. They were initially in a biodegradable pot (similar to the one on the right), but it started molding, so I repotted them into their current pot.Could anyone give me tips on how to save my black pine, whether placing it outside is the solution, and if so, how to do it best? Thanks in advance!

There are no pictures, but depending on where you are in the world will dictate where these seedlings should be. Bonsai are not grown from seed trees are which is what you are trying to do. They should be outside, depending on how big they are, don't keep re potting them it is doing more harm than good. If you are getting pests then you must protect them.

I have black pines from seed planted in ground that are now 10 years old and still not ready for styling. If you plan to grow in pot it will take half a lifetime to get into bonsai. Until then you are just growing a young tree.

To save your struggling black pine seedling, gradually transition it outdoors to a sunny, well-draining spot over 1-2 weeks, protecting it from pests like snails and avoiding overwatering.

Hello Danilo Di Gennaro!
You should place the plant in a shady place, avoiding heavy rain or strong winds for the first few days. Japanese Black Pine is not suitable for long-term indoor environment, so it is necessary to bring the plant outside, but it should be done gradually to avoid environmental shock.
