Hi everyone, I'm hoping for a remedy for these little white fuzzy blobs on my ficus. I've never seen them before and I'm concerned. I'm in western Canada and we're in the middle of a heat wave that may or may not have something to so with them.

I'm new to bonsai and especially the pests. Looking at Google, it could maybe be a mealybug?

Hello!
Yes, those are mealybugs, which is a type of cochineal/scale...
You can use any inseticide...
And also, people often "sufocate" them in soap foam, that's valid.

Hello,
Is there a brand of insecticide? If I use soap foam, does that need to sit and stay on it or wash it off after a certain time?
Thanks!

I'm from Brazil, so I don't think I can help you with about a specific brand, I don't know what they sell and what is allowed in your country...
About the foam, yes! It need to sit a while, about 30min, then, you wash it off... Use dish soap with water.
That will kill them, but won't prevent others to come in, so beware of that.
Here's a picture to help you understand what I'm talking about, there are different aproaches to that, some people just spray them with a solution with the dish soap but then you'll have to re-apply...

Just to make my last response clearer for you guys, since I'm not a native english speaker
To make the foam you use dish soap with water, you can use a sponge to make it foamy...
You leave about 30min on the plant then you can rince it with water...
You can also spray a soapy solution on it, but you'll have to re-apply a few times...
