Hello,
I am new to the forum and recently
received a Satsuki Azalea as a gift on
July 2nd. The pic attached to this message is from today.
It looked fine when it arrived 3 weeks ago... the leaves were green
and supple. I'm in southern delaware and we were having a heat wave...
100+F. Because of that I did not want
to put my new azalea outside. I kept it on the screened in porch but not in
the direct sun. Watered it every other day and misted the leaves once or
twice a day.
It started looking bad about a week
later and I looked up on this site what might be wrong... and I thought I
should try repotting it. I got some all
purpose bonzai soil and akadama off Amazon.
It seemed to be recovering and I kept
it on the porch, but a few days later
the leaves started to dry out again...
then turning yellow again. I went
away for 5 days and my husband
watered and misted it. Now I'm home and the leaves are crispy and more
yellow.
Some of the roots were exposed on top so he put some regular garden soil on top to cover them.
It's 80F so it's outside now.
I am absolutely looking for some
expert advice on how to remedy the
situation - if I can. Otherwise, I'll be
buying another Azalea Satsuki and not tell anyone!
Thank you!

The tree is already dead or will die in winter.
I do not think buying a new one will solve the situation. I suggest buying a good bonsai book now and start studying. Come authum look for cheap garden center materials to practice on.

Probably not enough water, and re potting finished it off.
