[Granada, Spain | Beginner] — Will it survive until spring in this soil?
Hi everyone, total beginner here. I live in Granada, Spain. I rescued this little tree, it has a sticker that said “Japanese Zelkova,” but I believe it’s actually a Chinese elm (Ulmus parvifolia).
Unfortunately, I found it really dry, they told me it went about a month without water (someone thought it was plastic 😔). I soaked it once by immersion when I got it, and now it’s on my terrace with bright light but no harsh direct sun.
The soil looks very compact and poor quality, and my main question is: 👉 Do you think it will survive until spring in this soil, or should I consider a slip-pot now (September in Granada) without disturbing the roots?
The tree is alive because I can see green dots in the trunk
Thank you so much in advance for your time and any advice — I really appreciate the help! 🙏

Yes, it is a chinese elm.
Yes, it can survive winter if you just adapt watering to the substrate. But you do not have the best start. I would protect it from frost.

If it went a month without water there is no way it is alive, and just because there is some green on the trunk does not mean it is alive. The soil looks poor, if you want to try you could put it in shade keep it watered and hope but I would not put money on it growing again.
