Boxwood Bonsai

I managed to obtain this offshoot of a larger boxwood bush, it sustained some damage because the gardener wasnt so careful....but I think it still has great potential! <--- please tell me if I am just being a hopeless dreamer!
I think it might need more branches, but am unsure of how to make it branch more other than cutting the tips of the branches that are already there, and putting the bare parts of the trunk in more sunlight. I am really afraid of ruining it because I find it so appealing, any advice is welcome especially in the way of styling it, I have no ideas, was going to just try to follow its natural pattern maybe?

i think it has potential but i would advise to let it grow for another year so you can pick out the main branches. i am not to sure about it being a box though (i may be wrong).
