Hello everyone,

Intro
Yesterday I checked up on my Ficus Ginseng to find a white dusting on top of the soil. I also noticed very tiny white bugs crawling around.
Should I be concerned?

Information
  • Tree: Ficus Ginseng
  • Age: Unkown
  • Lives indoors
  • Watering:I give it tapwater randomly about a week apart
  • Fertilizer: I use a liquid fertilizer from Pokon that I give every month or so
  • Soil: A Bonsai mix from Pokon, with clay water drainage pebbles at the bottom

Watering
It is now fall, so I will water it less and use rain water.

White Dusting
At first I thought this to be fungus, it looked like it. The soil also had a dusty smell. The same kind of dusty smell common green fungus has.
After reading some articles and posts online I thought it could be chalk from the water, my parents think it is also chalk.

Tiny White Insects
On the surface of the soil and underneath the dead leaves are very small white bugs.

Description
  • White
  • Very very tiny
  • Elongated body
  • Shiny shell
  • Seems to have four legs and two antennas

Pictures of both the white dusting and white bugs can be found in the attachments
The bugs are in the exact middle of the photos

Questions
Should I be worried about the dust and bugs?
If so, what do I do to remove them?

If you need any other information I will ad it.

Greetings,
Njitram

Cannot see any picture. But the bugs you describe sounds like springtails. They are not any problem för your plant. They only eat fungi. Hence, I do believe the white stuff is fungi.

Both springtails and fungi is signs of overwatering.
