I ordered boon mix from amazon, and a bonsai soil from bonsai boy. I live in zone 5. On a bonsai juniper is it best to use the boon mix that has pumice , lava and akadama, or the bonsai soil for bonsai conifer trees? Or could i mix them l like 50/50?

I particularly don't buy anything from BB.
If you have the proven stuff from Boon, why spoil it with some commercial mix we know nothing about? Try it first on some cheap plants to see if it works for you.

I have been growing jade for almost 20 years now. My whife have cut Them every time she thinks they are getting too big. Without any knowledge of bonsai, they have all come to look like something People without any deeper knowledge would call bonsai. We grow Them in cacti soil and water quite Hevy 1-4 Times a month, depending on season.
