White spots around root of tree and soil

Hi this is my first time looking after a bonsai which is 6yrs old. I’ve had it for 7 months and noticed the trunk was a strange colour and was wondering if this was mould? Thanks. I probably also need to start pruning the bonsai also

If it's 6 years old, it can't be a bonsai.

Do you have a picture?

Thanks very much for your reply. I bought it and it had a sign next to it which said 6yrs old but I guess it could be wrong.
