urgent repot of Brazilian Raintree was created by pebouky

I have a brazilian raintree that is still in a plastic nursery pot.  during a recent strong thunderstorm, it was knocked off its platform onto the concrete porch.   amazingly it landed tree up, but the pot was split down one side.  I've tried taping it back together tightly, but that just didn't work.  so, the side is gaping open exposing soil and obviously effecting water absorption and retention.  my question is, since we are in early August, is it ok for me to go ahead and repot or would that be just introducing too much risk on the health of the tree?  ordinarily I wouldn't have considered repotting until spring or early summer of next year.  any advice would be welcome.
