Do you agree with the statement below?

"There are many conflicting ideas within the bonsai community on the type of bonsai soil mix to use. Many growers find that bagged potting soil is usually satisfactory for potting most bonsai plants, whereas others are convinced that only a proprietary bonsai soil mix will do. If you use bagged soils, make sure they contain sphagnum peat moss and coarse perlite in equal quantities."

Let me expand
There are many conflicting ideas within the bonsai community on the type of bonsai soil mix to use.

I do not think there is a lot of conflict about what type of mix to use. There may be disagreement on which components should be in the mix. However, well-draining is a general consensus
Many growers find that bagged potting soil is usually satisfactory for potting most bonsai plants,
I have hardly ever encoutered a serious bonsai grower that thought generic potting mix is a suitable substrate
whereas others are convinced that only a proprietary bonsai soil mix will do.
This I may agree with, although the characteristics of the mix are important. Not what the intended use is. (I do realize that people frown at using a cactus mix for bonsai, even thoughh it is a near-perfect mix)
www.bonsaiempire.com/#f you use bagged soils, make sure they contain sphagnum peat moss and coarse perlite in equal quantities.
This is complete nonsense

I agree. But it does indicate there are conflicting ideas ;)
