Fertilizing

I just got my first bonsai tree as a gift, it is a chinese elm thats supposedly 10 years old. i bought the fish and seaweed fertilizer and just started applying it weekly like the bottle suggests. I also wanted to grow kyoto moss spores but i read it gets killed by fertilizer. Any suggestions? Do I have to wait for the fall season to apply the moss spores?

Do not worry about the moss. Learn to take care of your plant first.

thanks, i really want to get more now. one doesnt seem enough i think im going to get a golden gate ficus next.
