Thanks Jelle for checking in. Apparently the Fukien can be... well, fickle. But hey! I've still got two left and they're looking perky!
Thanks Keith...your words were encouraging! I told my two daughers they had better brush up a little on the art of Bonsai...they could be inheriting my Bonsai trees in another 25-30 years from now.

Oh my gosh!
Jelle...do you mean your 2 year old seedlings are still in the seedling flats? Nooo...you must have had them in some kind of pots over the past two years to grow and beef up, right?

Hi Leslie,
Nooo.. These are seedlings I found in the garden earlier this year (I posted on them somewhere here: www.bonsaiempire.com/forum/progressions/...g-tilia-platyphyllos ). I have selected 2 of them to become very small bonsai. So I trimmed the roots when moving them 2 weeks ago, and planted them in sand in their pots, and burried the lot for winter. In spring I will let it grow out, and after the first month of growth remove all bu the first leave on every branch.
I do not keep anything in a seeding tray longer than needs be

Oh yes! I remember your posting now. I forget that many of yours are outdoor plants. All of mine however, are indoor. Some of my cuttings I have planted in a home-made seedling tray (without the little divided compartments)using seed-starting mix. Others that were given to me pre-planted were in various flower pots with garden soil.
Ok...so according to what you are saying, I can and should pot the rooted cuttings from the seedling tray anytime soon as they have all rooted well and are growing.

I think you would like to ensure they have a good rootmass. But yeah., I personally would not wait much after they have rooted

Thank you so much Jelle for you guidance. I would never have imagined I could get this attached to cuttings...but then I didn't know how to do it before either. Their like my little babies.

Hi All...
Sadly, my last two Fukien Tea seedlings have died. They are the one species out of all my other seedlings that have been a huge challenge. They never got above 1/2" tall. I've been concerned for months that they may have had a fungal infection or they were too badly damaged by the *fungus gnat* infection. Last week I decided to take the risk and spray them with an all natural fungal/mold spray and within two days they turned completely black. ...sigh...
This is my first loss and I don't like it one bit!

Hi Leslie,
Sorry to hear they didn't survive Keep trying! I'm sure you can do it with new cuttings!
