Juniper looks happy.

The Acer less so. I am not sure what is going on. Are you sure you have fertilized it enough? And the soil is not a saoking wet muck?

I try to control water as much as possible, but you may right, and the old soil between the roots could be more wet than necessary. I fertilized with Magic gold and gave few times micronutrient shot, where the leafs was greener immediately on the second day. I used liquid fertilizer on 2 occasions maybe.
Aw! And I’ve forgot to mention the spider mites... Now it’s cleaned up, but wasn’t a fun ride with all of those buggers in a row on that weak stick.

Felidae,

Junipers when healthy can be wired and bending then should not be difficult, as the branches are very flexible.
Do bend MORE than your intended design, as it will "straighten up" with time.
And DON'T forget:
"Bend it till just before it breaks".

Thanks, it’s useful :) I don’t know when I’ll wiring, but it need an initial pruning/chopping/forming badly.. Maybe on the same time.

And DON'T forget:
"Bend it till just before it breaks".

How can I forget this? X) It’ll be a whole story how I’ll try to feel the tension with my fingertips

It’s on the road now :) The problem with the campestre was the old soil indeed. After I repotted (on a basket.. 40-40-20 organic mix - Seramis - sphagnum) it got much better, but still not in amazing shape. I wrapped the sides with cling film to reduce evaporation and the tree’s reaction was finally absolute positive. It looks enough healthy to start the work on next season. Now I hesitate and maybe instead of just cutting down later, I’ll go ahead and air layering now to encourage some early budding on the needed sections. And of course, Chopstick style for the upper part.. ^^

I’ve got some interesting characteristics on this. I wait impatiently to clean it up.. ^^ The upper roots are definitely goners..
I don’t worry anymore for this tree’s health. It’s in better shape than me, so later on this year, I’ll open a progression thread to follow the development.

Will never became a great bonsai, but we lived out some stuff together. Just digged himself into my heart...
