chopchopchop...

:D How youngs are inpatient nowadays...

It’ll be chopped to a 34 cm tall stump. To start fresh & clean this strange, straight branch also need to go completely. I throw a layer just above the planned cutting site to encourage some budding on the trunk below.

Well... I’m back with my favorite material.
I’ve got my so wanted buds on the trunk, but I see roots just on the sunny side of the airlayer.. That’s due to my laziness, cause I didn’t eager to turning that basket as I should...

I’ll let in a month or so before separation, like this maybe I can do something with that upper stick too.

I try to manage the coarse growth, but I already see it’ll be a funky ride. I need to stock on or make some low nitrogen fertilizer...

I think that with well times defoliation and trimming you can get very far on your internodes. I find that the first and ometimes second inernod of the year are short, as well as the internodes on branches on the inside / those that form in the secand half of the year.

Thanks, LB! I’ll pay attention for this. : )

I gave it a higher elevation yesterday, so the sun can grill some buds lower on the trunk. I let it grow for now, but from the next year I have a plan. Well.. kind of..
From spring, I’d like to use half dose Nitrogen and pinching out the first buds. (Except if I graft some branches on...)
/Trimming as necessary between... /
Midsummer defoliation, and going with a balanced fert until September.
From the end of August, beginning of September a low N fertilizer until fall.
Pruning after leaf fall. Deciding if refining that hole on the base, or wait for it...
