Thank you for your guidance. I'll try to keep it alive first before doing any work. Will read about horticulture as well. I'll also look for a nice place outside where i can put it.

Actually i do have little experience with plants(haworthias, crotons, adeniums, portulacaria afra, jade, diff ficuses,etc.). I have around 55-60 plants which i have kept alive for 2 years. Though this one will be different and new for me.

appreciate your response.

No matter if it is a juniper or cypress, it will need winter dormancy in order to survive. Put it outside before temp drops so you dont chock it with instant winter.

Thank You Tropfrog for your reply and guidance. Really appreciate it.

Also wanted to inform you that I live in India and we have winter where temperature drops till 15 degree celsius only (60 Fahrenheit). Temperature generally stays between 15-20 degree celsius for December to February mid.

Cypress is a general name,
genius Cuppressus is what commonly is know as cypress, but Taxodium, Chameacyparis, glyptostrobus, Thuja and other species will be sold under the name "cypress" and thus also some species of juniper

Hmm...india and 15c minimum. I am not sure junipers will survive that. If it is Chamaecyparis pisifera it is hardy in usda zone 4 to 8. You are way out of that.

Anyway, outside is you best chanse.

If you got this in a local garden centre or something, I would not worry too much about the climate. It will be fine.

I do not know the species / cultivar so hard to tell whether it is suitable.

For next time, search for trees with a little more foliage lower on the trunk. Getting green to grow on bare branches and trunk is more dificult and starting with plants tat already have growth lower and near to the trunk helps.

Note that the examples you posted are quite a bit older than what you have AND that once you start growing it as bonsai the trunks do not increas in size all that much anymore.

Get started, see how you go. Go slow and be gentle on the tree.

Thank you leatherback. Really appreciate you taking time to reply.

I'll keep in mind instructions given by you next time when buying for bonsai.

Thanks again. Also, I'll share updates as well in future. Hope things go well.
