very slowly this tree is taking steps towards bonsaihood. It will eventually get a real pot. Maybe this year.I am at the point where I think I now know how to get the scale type foliage back on the tree.The last seasons it has mainly made needle-type foliage. But I think it is looking better than 3 years ago today.

Yes. Over the next years I want to narrow the lifelines even further. Once that is how I want it, I will work the deadwood. Reason for not doing it now: I am not that good with deadwood work. So I cannot make deadwood match the older deadwood. So I rather do the whole thing in one go, so all the deadwood has an even character. Lame reason, I know.

I hear itoigawa it tricky like that. A very evolved plant. Any stress to it and it puts out immature foliage to deter predators from eating any remaining healthy foliage. I have about 4 itoigawa that are very young. I got them at a great price due to them being neglected. Almost a year later and the mature foliage is starting to come back.
