Take a look at what patience gets you! Luckily i did not fertilise it eather, because fertilising a sick tree will kill it

just an idea...you may want to address that big scar.i dont know if you have a large concave cutter ,you can carve with a sharp knife or razor also , but it should be cut more and actually scooped out a little bit (concave cutter will do this) if that scar heals as it is it will create a unwanted lump on the trunk.you can wait a while so the tree has time to recoop but it should be done before the growing season ends so you aren't cutting away what the tree has tried to heal over B)

Yaaaayyeee! It's sprouting! :woohoo:

That's wonderful news, Jon. It would have had to recover from the bare rooting for about a month to six weeks however, the rest of the time I think it was just in rest mode. It's not that far behind the other two in sprouting and, being a different variety of Acacia, it was going to darn well sprout when it was ready and not a moment sooner. ;) Now you can fertilize it!

PS~ what is the gorgeous little tree in the upper right of photos 1 thru 3? I luv it!

Very good point manofthetrees, i shall use the tools i won! That has a concave cutter, i will do it soon and then seal it too to prevent it getting a disease or something, it has only just started getting stronger!

Leslie are you talking about the one in the green pot? The one with the yellowish leaves? Im not sure what species it is haha i got given it from paul

THat is good news!

If you want to play with the stumb left on the tree, be carefull to fix the trunk somewhere. Maybe you can roll some layers of cloth tightly around the trunk, and place the trun on a workmate (And support the pot underneath). Otherwise you will put a lot of force on the roots; Not really what you want I think. Also, be VERYcarefull not to damage the bark at thi sstage. Personally I would wait with this work untill your tree is very happy again, and maybe even wait till the plant is dormant, with only a month to spare for the new growing season..

Hi Jon,

Yes, the one in the green pot with the light green, round-ish leaves. It's lovely.
And you haven't researched it yet??? You're so fortunate to have someone 'giving' you bonsai. ...sigh...

Well...I am quite fortunate tho. Afterall, I've had seeds and cuttings mailed to me from half way across the world! ;) And I have a friend in the our Bonsai Club who often brings me cuttings to root or tiny plants to grow and nuture on my own. That's very cool! B)
