If you keep it outside and soil is well drained you may leave it under the shower, my very humble opinion.

Ah OK. If it rains tommorow, though, I think I'll cover it up so it doesn't stress the plant further. Last thing, when/if the plant recovers, will the leaves turn green again or will the plant just grow new ones. Thank you everyone very much.

It will transition to green.
I have one now that I stressed 3 weeks ago that is finally back to green. One branch did die (yellow and brittle to the touch) but I didn't care about the branch that much.

Now is a risky period for me. It is dry and sunny and, not having had to water in months, I need to remind myself to check if I need to water.

UPDATE: Leaves are continuing to yellow, but the soil felt incredibly dry so I gave it just a LITTLE bit of water. So I checked on it today and the soil is completely dry again. Is it possible that my tree was under-watered, is it the soil, or is this tree just down for the count by now?

Not sure. If I look at the picture you posted, I would have said the tree was dead already. Just did not want to give that suggestion based on a cell phone screen.
