My hornbeam seems to habe trouble with mildew this time of year, for nearly every year that I've had it. Have any of you experienced similar things with European hornbeams? Is there anything I can do to help?
I have it in a place that gets morning sun, afternoon shade and evening sun again... there is plenty of Wind...
I've sprayed with lime-sulfer in the winter, and it seemed like it was going to be less mildew this year, but not really.

Any ideas?

make sur eit is watered a few hours before sundown? Not getting leaves wet?
Opening the crown a little by partial defoliation?

I have excellent results with spraying a milk/water mix (50/50) on the leaves. Both my hornbeams and oak suffered greatly from mildew last year. After I sprayed them twice the mildew disappeared , and it has not returned yet this year.

so I should only water the soil,and only in the evening? or the opposite?

I've tried the milk solution. it really wasn't seemed to work. fungicide did.

(I have a liter of pure lactic acid by coincidence... That’s why I’m heavily interested. )

It is about cow milk. More specifically, the Whey, so the non-lactose part of it:

As for the earlier questions: The idea is to ensure the plant is well dried before it enters the night. Wet foliage in the evening supports the development of mildew.
