Probably a month and a half to 2 months. Does anyone know if you can reduce the leaf size on hibiscus's? I know you wont be able to with the flowers.

If I were you I'd clip off the flowers before they open. Flowers take a lot of energy to produce.
I have a hydrangea that will never produce a flower because of that.

good point, perhaps i will only let it flower once i consider it bonsai material. Tnx for that

Ok so this is probably the last two airlayers that have worked this year :woohoo: . I still have to airlayers waiting on a celtis africana, but i don't think they have rooted or will root. :dry:

I managed to airlayer another ficus and a rose bush haha. The rose bush was a bit of a creeper type which grows small leaves, the piece actually has very little movement and is shocking for bonsai, but its just an experiment. Oh ya, its a small white flowering rose bush. The ficus is a rather long branch and not looking very healthy, but the roots are continuing to grow in its new pot. Im just going to wait for some back budding and cut it back to 10-15cm, at the moment its about 60cm. :pinch:

I have a couple (rugosa) that I got last year from an old bush I own. They are small stumps. They are starting to produce buds so I know they made it. They are pretty tough plants.

Maybe i will try a cascade with one of those branches, who knows. Wow, i just looked up rugosa, very nice plant.

I got a camera for my Birthday so I will post a few pics soon of how the plants are coming along in their pots . Oh the camera ive been using before was my sisters. Now that I have my own camera, I will be taking a lot more pics!

I love it when I get a new camera. It drives my wife crazy tho. I took about 150 pictures the day I got my digital camera. But i still use my 35mm and medium format cameras.
