Welcome to the forum! It is good to hear you've had a good look around the forum and like what you see. Hey! Congrats on making your first bench! That is one sweet pattern! Please feel free to share photos of your bench...say, in the 'General' or the "Tools" sections of the forum...we'd luv to see it. I'm looking forward seeing you around the forum.
Lotsa new peeps while I have been away -- nice looking tree Ben.
Husina - I would love to see pics of your hedgehogs ... wow Mig -- all the way from South Africa. I have never been there, I would like to visit someday.
As for me, I prefer the four seasons. It will be snowing when I move to Missouri next month.
Hello guys, I thought I should formally introduce myself.
I've been a member for a few weeks now and learnt a lot from bonsaiempire.. It really is a great website .
I live in South Africa and currently studying at uct. I have always known about bonsai, but never properly understood them until my friend Jonathan introduced me. He showed me the bonsai and trees he was training. A few months later we went to a bonsai nursery and that's what really got me interested i couldn't believe the age of some of the trees and how awesome they were.
My friend to me that you could propagate trees by air layering and I couldn't believe that it was possible. I researched it a bit and air layered 4 trees around my house. I brought stock from a bonsai nursery not so long after that, an Acacia and an English Myrtle.
Just recently I joined a local bonsai and went to my first meeting last night, the topics were pests and maple. We learnt a lot about the different maple species. I can't wait to get my first maple !
I am hoping that there will be a bonsai club nearby where I am moving in Missouri. If there isn't one -- I will probably start one. I just started myself .. but I have always been interested.
Glad to have you around, hope to see more posts from you.
.. Hadn't gotten around to it yet, there is one in Columbia -- it is about 45 miles from where I live. But I am sure this will make it easier to start a chapter in my town.
Ya good luck with everthing . Its really beneficial joining a bonsai club. And if you wanting to start your own club im sure people would love that too... Also get to save petrol money
