Wow! Nice work, Bensai! Thanks for sharing the photos. How much did you cut them back...ie: the height before you pruned compared to the height after pruning. I thought they would look quite pathetic after pruning however, they look kinda cool really.

Did you by any chance repot it? Mine is a small one in a 4" pot and I find it dries out very quickly and suddenly. I can check the soil for moisture in the morning and it's still moist on top, then by evening the soil is dried out completely and the plant is totally wilting. Yikes! It freaks me out a little when I see it like that! Wondering if you or anyone else thinks I should repot mine?

In my case, the pot they were in seemed fine for now; as far as the height, I really took nothing off height-wise. I worked from the bottom up thinning out leaves, trying to leave at least one green leaf per stem, and a few red ones. Since I have no experience here, I didn't want to completely defoliate them, or cut the main stems off - I cut probably about 85% of all foliage off, basically separating out the main stems. My plan is to watch how vigorously they back bud, and where they do exactly, and then slowly pruning more as the new buds and shoots come in. They seem to be responding well so far - we'll see!

Hi All, :)

I finally got around to taking a couple of photos of my Poinsettia. I haven't done any trimming yet because I've been enjoying the blooms too much. Soon! Here she is in her 4-inch (10cm) pot. I think she has great stem/branch structure... what do you think?

Hi peeps.
I finally got a poinsettia to start playing with. this one was at work. they were going to throw it away :( .
rather than over thinking the whole thing, i just chopped away..leaving just a few branches. now I'm just going to stare at it until spring.

 wish I coulda found one this year, I will buy one later.

... -- they should be on sale ...

I read on a gardening site that it was easier to throw them out and get a new one next year, because it's hard to get them to bloom at the right time next year. The process involves darkness, darkness- light, bright light. I don't care if mine ever blooms ever again.I only want it to grow fast.....

Hey kids.
just wondering how everyone's poinsettias are doing. I chopped mine back when I first got it, and now it's starting to back bud. I'm surprised at how fast it happened.I think I'll start fertilizing this week.
I'm glad I decided to try this. It has given me something to do up here in the scary cold north. haha
