Didn't we have a topic once about the most ridiculously priced 'bonsai'?

I believe it was about non-sai. a bunch of people posted about mallsai and such. But I didn't get to chime in so added to this thread. Will I expect a letter in the mail from a lawyer? :P

Yep, that's the one. Now feast your eyes on this, only USD 225,00 at BonsaiBoy:

Or else, for the same price, this amazing impression of a real, ancient tree in nature:

Of course, if you have the budget, you'd rather go for this one, for just 6.000,00 (I think this one was one of the winners in the 'nonsai' topic):

The closest similar juniper I could find was this one, but that's only EUR 378,00 so it can't be any good. it isn't even in a bonsai pot:

I will, and others in our group will offer advice but then say that it is your tree you decide. Generally they are happy with the advice, somtimes they hesitate. I have had problems with advice and work done on my trees by a particular club member at another club, doing without asking. I learned quickly not to ask him anything!

I had a similar situation. I believe there was a post that strayed onto that topic.

These can be great starters but NOT for those prices! I hope many people get a good look at this post and what an over priced pre Bonsai looks like.
Bonsai Boy seems to have some decent information, just not very good priced Bonsai. I have to have my hands on it and look at it. I have a nursery near me that sells pre Bonsai for decent prices, you just have to take a close look. I bought a mugo pine from there. I was interested in a Hinoki cypress, but once I took a closer look, it had horrible taper so I went for the mugo.

You think so? Seems that the biggest part of the 'specific' guidelines per species are just copy/pasted and identical for each species.

True: you can find the same information on other sites and in books. The good thing is that it's pretty consistent. This site is sometimes too general. I think for most beginners, Bonsai Boy can be helpful.

I'm not sure if you got what I meant:
The guidelines for all species on the BB site are mostly identical. While they have a page for every species, the guidelines are generic ones and not specific for the species on that page. Simply create a page for a species, copy/paste to next page of other species. I never use that site whe I'm looking for specific care guidelines.
