I actually bought this from lowes when we went up there to get a washer

Ah, so it is a mallsai.

Either this or no bonsai at all... and I already know what you're gonna say, "you just shouldn't of ever bought a bonsai then because you're a stupid noob at caring for bonsai, that tree deserves to be put out of its misery by burning it" I could see you saying something like this auk

Good point. Mallsai have had at least some training, so indeed this is a young juniper, not a bonsai.
Howevever, that's certainly not what I would say. First of all, I wouldn't have said 'you shouldn't have bought a bonsai', as yo haven't bought a bonsai. What
What I would say:
You want to start with bonsai. Good. A couple of important things to learn:
Lowes doesn't sell bonsai
Start looking at bonsai, learn the difference between just young, decorative plants, mallsai and real bonsai. Google images, visit nurseries, go to a bonsai exhibition.. Look at videos - and maybe do the courses that are offered on this website.
Buy books, join a club, start studying.
Take good care of your young juniper and make it thrive.
Start practicing what you have learned - but take it easy. It takes many years to train a tree and make it a bonsai.

"In fact, any plant species that has a woody stem or trunk, grows true branches, can be successfully grown in a container to restrict its roots/food storage capability, and has smaller or reducible-leaves can be used to create a Bonsai." -Bonsai Empire

If something CAN be grown into a bonsai, it doesn't mean it IS a bonsai. What Lowes sells are not bonsai. Bonsai is NOT a tree species, it is a technique.
Not really in the mood to further explain what I've already explained hundreds of times.

The statement on this site is correct and it still doesn't make your plant a bonsai.
