When growing it in a pot, you will need to repot every year, and each year in a pot one or two sizes up.

This has been and interesting and instructive discussion, however I still remain doubtful about one thing, and that is: What is a pot that is a size or two sizes larger than other? I mean... How can we measure a pot's size in relation to another? Is there a standard designed for such purpose?

Thanks in advance,

Plant growers normally have pots of one kind, which runs in a series of sizes. e.g.:

Hey Leatherback,

mmmh leaving it with my parents is probably the best option if it needs to be in the ground, I would definitely not leave it in a pot at home ...My mother is always killing house plants!! ( I really wanted to keep my vine with me! >_< ) however if you would advise I leave it behind in the ground I will do what is best for the vine.

So I plant the vine where I originally found it in the backyard. I go to college and come back at Christmas and work on it, I repeat this for the 4yrs I am at college. Then I graduate...I dig up the vine and start to work on making it a bonsai??? it will be thick and old enough for this then??? lol I hope I am understanding you correctly =)

that sounds like a solid plan anyways.

Also I will remember your advice about pots for future, I noticed that myself with houseplants, I have had to save several for my mother ^_- haha!

P.S. Could everyone please not sidetrack this topic with random questions and discussion, thank you so much =)
