Hello. My name is Kevin. I am from Portland, Oregon. Born and raised. I have spent my life surrounded by beautiful trees. I have always been interested in bonsai and now I have two hinoki cypress sapplings and am excited for the growth in these two. I will be purchasing a more mature bonsai this Wednesday from Portland nursery. I am excited to learn more about this wonderful art form. I have always been growing plants and now have amassed a very nice indoor plant oasis. My girlfriend is from Japan so we will go back and fourth quite a bit. I hope to get some cuts and bring some back or learn more when in Japan. I Just wanted to say hi and thanks for having this community.

Kevin.

Glad to be accepted. I am excited to start my journey in bonsai . Are there Any names you can think of for Portland bonsaiists? I will be possibly moving to the Midwest or Hawaii with my girlfriend depending where she gets accepted to Ph.D program so I want to see about doing as much as I can here and then transferring over. And then moving back to Portland when she is finished.

You do know this website I hope?
www.portlandbonsaivillage.com/people/

Reel and Hagedorn are well-know worldwide for bonsaiwork. I am pretty sure the rest of them have a few tricks up their sleeves that most hobby growers can learn from.

Bonsai mirai and Ryan Neil I think are also Portland Oregon.

His website has some outstanding free streams on bonsai. He also visits local nurseries on some of his YouTube videos where he picks nursery stock and helps with what to look for in a tree.

Hello everyone!

My name is Rin, I'm 18 and I live in the UK. I'm very much a beginner when it comes to bonsai (and indoor plants in general, actually), but I've learnt so much already and I can't wait to continue!

I currently own a small ficus, a blackbean sapling, and a selection airplants, moss, and succulents. The ficus is about six months old (likely older since I got it at a national trust garden shop, it's not a mallsai at least!), and although it's currently a rather undesirable shape, I hope it can grow into a much more appealing tree over the years. The blackbean already looks much like a miniature tree due to the way it grows, though I shall have to remove its bean soon.

I'll be making a blog here to document my journey with the ficus (and with the Japanese cherry blossom seeds I currently have germinating in the fridge!), though I may be cheeky and add bits about succulents and terrariums here and there, which I trust isn't too off-topic.

Anyway, I look forwards to meeting you all! This seems like a great forum :)

Hello, Rin, welcome to the forum.
I didn't quite get your meaning here. The seeds are in the fridge for stratification, or germination?
